Surface Mount Technology SMT (SMD) Attachment Sturdiness
Before purchasing any SMT connectors please read these important precautions and limitations:
Precautions for SMT High Current Applications
---
B12-NM-SMT | B10-PCB | B10-PCB-RLM | B6A-PCB | B6A-PCB-RLM
B6A-PCB-45 | B6A-PCB-45-RLM | B4A-PCB | B4A-PCB-RLM
B4A-PCB-45 | B4A-PCB-45-RLM | P4-SMT
The following diagrams illustrate multiple SMT orientations for each SMT capable PCB part. Please note that in all solderable components a through hole (THT) connection is always more secure than just an SMT soldered connection.

||||
B12-NM-SMT Orientations | ||||
SMT Surface Mount Technology Options: Figure 1: Most Sturdy: Vertical screw and horizontal wire. Figure 2: Less Sturdy: Horizontal screw and horizontal wire. Best for factory wiring only. Products that allow SMT orientations: B12-NM-SMT, B12-NM-SMT-RLM-KIT*, and B12-NM-SMT-N66-KIT
*In Figure 2 orientation, when using a headed screw or ring lug and bolt it's recommended that the head of the screw hangs off the edge of the board. Screws with little or no clearance between the head of the screw and the board can result in mechanical and electrical fouling.
THT Through Hole Technology Option: This part does not have a THT option. To see a similar part with THT capabilities view the B12-PCB products on the THT product page. The THT B12 Products do not have solderable tin plating and cannot be interchangeably used for SMT and THT. Only use B12-NM-SMT products for SMT purposes. |
